ElectroStatic Precipitator (ESP) is an alternative dust catcher with high efficiency (above 90%) and the range of particles obtained is quite large. By using this electrostatic precipitator (ESP), the amount of dust waste coming out of the chimney is expected to be only about 0.16% (where the effectiveness of dust capture reaches 99.84%). Electrostatic applications in the industrial world are used to overcome the problem of commercial restaurant odors, dust waste. Industries that apply it a lot are PLTU (Steam Power Plant), sugar factories, and cement factories. One application is the use of an electrostatic precipitator (ESP).

How ElectroStatic Precipitator Works

The workings of the electrostatic precipitator (ESP) are as follows:

(1) Passing flue gas through an electric field that is formed between the discharge electrode and the collector plate, flue gas containing dust grains is initially neutrally charged and when it passes through an electric field, the dust particles will be ionized so that the dust particles become negatively charged (-).

(2) The negatively charged (-) dust particles then stick to the collector plates, see figure 4. The dust collected on the collector plates is periodically removed from the collector plates through a vibration (rapping). This dust then falls into the ash hopper, see Figures 1 and 2, and is transported (transported) to the flyash silo by blowing (vacuum).
